Adam is the Founder and Managing Partner of Wilshire Lane Capital. Prior to founding Wilshire Lane Capital, he worked as a venture capital investor at Fifth Wall Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. Before his career in venture capital, Adam worked as an investor on Wall Street, both as a hedge fund investor at The Carlyle Group and in the Real Estate Group at Morgan Stanley in New York City. Adam graduated with High Honors from Harvard College and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. Adam is a current Board Member for Stuf Storage, Piñata, Radish Health, Hungry House, Pronto Housing, and Colleen AI.
Adam was also selected to GlobeSt’s 2022 Fifty Under 40 Professionals in Real Estate list as well as to Commercial Observer’s 2022 and 2023 Power 30 Top Executives in PropTech list. He is also a Board Member for 9 Dots, an education non-profit focused on providing subsidized computer science education to children from underprivileged backgrounds. He was also appointed to the Board of Commissioners for the $1.6 Billion Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), the largest provider of affordable housing to residents of Los Angeles.
Matt is a Principal at Wilshire Lane Capital. Prior to joining Wilshire Lane Capital, he was a private equity professional at Main Street Advisors, an asset management firm with over $8 billion in AUM serving Ultra High Networth clients. At Main Street Advisors, he focused on venture capital and consumer investments across North America and Europe. Previously, Matt worked at H.I.G. Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, where he evaluated and executed investments across various industries. Earlier in his career, Matt held roles in Morgan Stanley’s Growth Equity and Investment Banking divisions. Matt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Shane Bates is the Head of Finance at Wilshire Lane Capital with over 12 years of experience in accounting and finance roles, specifically in the alternative investment industry. Prior to joining Wilshire Lane Capital, Shane was a Vice President at Mainstream Fund Services where he was instrumental in the growth of their US private equity and venture capital business. He has extensive experience with end-to-end fund administration services and has worked with multiple industry-leading technology platforms and hundreds of alternative funds. Shane is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana where he obtained both his bachelor’s degree in accounting and MBA.
Before joining Wilshire Lane Capital, Amel served as Director of Finance and Operations at another institutional early-stage venture fund. Prior to that, she was an Accounting Manager at Kranz Consulting, providing accounting and advisory services to numerous early-stage venture capital funds and managing quarterly and annual financial reporting in collaboration with external service providers. Earlier in her career, she gained alternative investment experience working with private equity and venture capital clients at other fund administrators including Aduro Advisors and Standish Management.
Amel began her career at PwC as an auditor in the Asset Management and Financial Services practice, specializing in audits of mutual funds, private equity, and venture capital firms. She holds a BS in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Colorado Denver and an MS in Accountancy from Regis University, and she is a licensed CPA in Colorado.
